His Own

Could this be GOD’s own Son?
His fingers grasp like mine
They hold his mother’s hand
Not his Fathers royal scepter
His mouth suckles to feed
Speaking A babies Language
After speaking to the universe
Feet that counted with 10 toes
Walked a dusty shepherd trail
Once stepped among the stars
Could this be GOD’s own Son?
A King loved a wretch like me
Worlds Sovereign by strength
Forcing all the knees to bow
The Choice not to be given
Would we expect anything less?
We want a strong king to rule
He lives as a carpenter’s son
Poor, no possessions of his own
Borrowing all that he had
Could this be GOD’s own Son?
Thorny crown worn with pain
By decree beaten and flogged
Betrayed of his GOD’s people
Synagogue rulers call blaspheme
Romans place him with criminals
To Golgotha he was sent cruelly
Drops of Blood tracing the path
Nails piercing the hands and feet
Hanging on an evil Roman cross
Could this be GOD’s own Son?
Three days the tomb was occupied
The stone remained in its place
For me, there He did not stay
Death could not hold the King
I am the resurrection and the life
He who believes in me will live,
With my mind I shall believe
With my heart I shall Love
With my Lips I shall declare
Surely he was God’s own Son

Born is a King

For unto us a child is born

Angels give voice to the news

With this birth comes joy

A star giving the manger light

A virgin cradles her only son

This King born on a Holy night

He will be called Immanuel

Wonderful counselor, Mighty God

Heavens sovereign, The Son of man

Earths rulers will come to bow

Shepherds simple gift of worship

This world never to be the same

The messiah stepped into time

Salvation has come to us sinners

The Kingdom of Heaven is near

Hosanna to the highest he’ll hear

Crucify him soon after to be shouted

Still on this day Heaven moved

Ignoring the pain that must come

The cross that awaits his arrival

Even so this was Bethlehem day

No longer the least among Judah

Forever the birthplace of Christ

This is an event for all the ages

People wandering in the darkness

They have now seen a great light

For unto us a child is born

Worth

I am a desperate sinful man
Darkness covered my many years
Times of sinful self-indulgence
A past of no use to the LORD
Living a life pleasing to myself
Welfare of others never considered
Pain inflicted before being received
Love merely a word to be spoken
Friendships arrive in a brown bottle
Money paid for false affections
Could a righteous GOD love me
Are not my sins those unforgivable?
Does He hear only the perfect prayers?
Then I must become a better man
So to approach the Holy throne
Yet how do I become worthy
Was someone only to tell me?
Speak to me of Calvary’s claims
Show me the way to the cross
To have my past forever forgiven
My guilt buried Good Friday Deep
A new life to live just for him
In the shadow of the Cross I kneel
Confessing the truth to my LORD
I am a desperate sinful man

Hear my prayer O LORD

That I may do your will

Words are refusing to come

Those which will help him know

The blindness to which he clings

He See’s yet is without sight

The deafness which screams

Listen to hear the Gospel truth

Knowledge of his world reigns

GOD revealed only in his trials

Yet your Love for him abounds

Even as he has forsaken you

Your grace is waiting to mend

Mercy is his for the asking

Justice of sin to be forgiven

A new heart you will give him

Replacing his of hardened stone

Your desire is for all men to know

It is just for them you died

The Christ of the crucifixion

A Lord of the resurrection

The savior of his eternal soul

All this awaits his request

He needs merely to speak

Hear my prayer O LORD

TO FIND

What would you find?

If you looked at my heart

A beating mass of life’s blood

Or kindness and compassion

What would you find?

If you could see my mind

A grey group of nerves

Or the thoughts of Christ

What would you find?

If my money was on display

Self always first in my life

Or the Kingdoms work

What would you find?

If visiting my home unseen

Am I the same in private?

As I am in the churches walls

What would you find?

If coming to my job to listen

Do you hear the world speak?

Or Christ preached with love

What would you find?

If you joined me in my church

Do hypocrites enjoy prominence?

Or is humility always on display

What would you find?

If looking at pages of my Bible

Are they new, pristine, and clean?

Or time-worn dog-eared and ruffled

What would you find?

If you looked to me for Christ

Searching for the fruits of my life

Do I preach Jesus without words?

What would you find?

If standing before a sovereign

A king to give eternities judgment

When the book of life is opened

What would you find?

KNOW

I want YOU to know Christ
The man of the Bible
The GOD of the heavens
The healer of broken hearts
The mender of all wounds
I want YOU to know Christ
The Alpha and the Omega
The son of David the king
The lion of the tribe of Judah
The prince of peace
I want YOU to know Christ
The baby in a manger
The boy teacher in the Temple
The messiah of Israel
The savior of the world
I want YOU to know Christ
The sovereign that reigns
The judge that demands justice
The father filled with love
The master who forgives
I want YOU to know Christ
The spotless atonement lamb
The sacrifice on the Cross
The redeemer of mankind
The giver of new life
I want YOU to know Christ
He who seeks finds
Here I am! I stand and knock
Hear my voice and open the door
And I will come in
I want YOU to know Christ

GENERATIONS

And it was said of him
A GODly man left us today
Tales were told of his sacrifices
Genuine defender of the faith
Leader of great persuasion
A Man so much his generation
Gathered by God to the throne
This generation becomes few
Bailey, Goldsmith, Stober
Morton, Singer, Huff
Are their men that follow?
Those that stand in the gap
Rising to the Cross’s challenge
Quick to take a strangers hand
Or helping the least of these
Unwilling to turn a blind eye
Believing the church must rise
That all men are created equal
Never leave the weak behind
We should answer Gods Holy call
All sin is evil before the LORD
Only one man was ever perfect
Knowing that I am not that man
Forgive me LORD of my weakness
Strengthen my desire to serve
Showing me the gap I must fill
So that when called by you home
And I’m gathered to your throne
Will it then be said of me
A GODly man left us today

MY FRIEND

LORD I lift up my friend

My words found his ears deaf

A hear hardened and confused

His truth defined by the world

Refusing the Gospels honesty

Claiming only the scriptures of ease

Accepting gladly the painless ways

Hoping to grasp just enough salvation

Rejecting the life changing lessons

As he listens to other voices whisper

Hells flames hold no sway to death

Heaven is for all to enter in the end

That’s the eternity created by man

Just where his worldly gods belong

What more then can I speak of

I’ve him told of my LORD’s love

Forgiveness of all sins committed

A bloodied Cross to pay the price

This gift of life so simple and free

He rejects this offer without malice

Lies of the deceiver too firm a grip

To him I am but a naïve fool

My GOD use this fool to your glory

It is with an with an expectant heart

Lord I lift my friend up
